2018-2019 Executive Pictures and Bios coming soon!
2017-2018 Executive: Dev Ramkallie - President My name is Dev Ramkallie, and I am your President for the 2017-2018 year! I am a 4th year majoring in Political Science and ES&L. I am a diehard Toronto sports fan, following the Jays, Leafs, and Raptors religiously. For those interested in a career in politics, during my summer, I work for an MP’s office focusing on casework and outreach. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! One of the things that drew me to ES&L was the variety of content in the courses, the smaller classroom sizes, and the reputation of our professors. ES&L is a prestigious program, with a community that I am proud to be a part of. If you have any questions about the program, what to expect, or want to talk sports, please feel free to reach out!
Ema Ibraković - VP Advocacy Hey, I'm Ema. I'm a 3rd year student in Ethics, Society & Law and Political Science and your VP Advocacy for the year. I love politics and coffee, and my academic interests include philosophy of law, political theory, and environmental ethics. My favourite courses to date are PHL271 and TRN305, but I've loved all my ES&L courses. A fun fact about me is that I manage a small coffee shop on campus and my favourite show is Mad Men. I’m also Mooting Director for the Pre-Law Society and a VP of the UofT Young Liberals. I love this program and hope to get to know you all over the course of the year. Feel free to shoot me a message at any time about class, notes, or whatever's on your mind.
Andrew Irwin - VP Administration
Brad Gould - VP Social Hi, I’m Brad and I’m your VP social. I’m a fourth year student double majoring in ES&L and political science, and also minoring in history. I’m a huge Leafs fan and am slightly obsessed with Game of Thrones. I ran for this position because ES&L is the best program at the university due to the people who contribute to it, and so if you haven’t met me yet feel free to say hi and introduce yourself (and even pitch some ideas for fun events as I’ll be planning the majority of them this year). Can’t wait to meet everyone at the ES&L events and have a great time.
Raphael Padolina - VP Communications
Ryan Chan - VP Speaker Series Hi! I’m Ryan, I’m a fourth year student and your VP Speaker Series. Some fun facts about me are that I’m an avid scuba diver and a Game of Thrones fan boy. My favourite course is TRN305 and if you ever need notes just let me know! Hope to see you guys out at all of our events!
Jayde Jones - 3rd Year Representative "Hi! I’m your Third Year Rep for 2017-18 and here’s a little bit about me. I double major in ES&L and Criminology while minoring in Equity Studies. My current academic interest lies in exploring the philosophies of Indigenous legal systems and the role they have to play in the development of Canadian law. Like almost our entire program, my present plan is law school - I’d love to practice refugee and immigration law! Aside from ES&LSA, I sit on the UTSU’s Board of Directors, mentor in the Humanities for Humanity program, volunteer at Caffiends, am part of an Equity Studies writing group, and have recently become involved with UN Women U of T. I love this program and meeting people in it, so come say hey if you see me around!"
Rose Wang - 2nd Year Representative Hi! My name is Rose, and I’m the second year representative. I am so excited to be on the council this year, and working closely with a group of people who genuinely care about the success of our program. Ethics, Society and Law is so unique in that it’s so interdisciplinary; we’re given so many options to academically explore any of these three fields. Ensuing, our multitude of academic branches allows for many opportunities and events. As the second year representative, one of my largest concerns is make everyone, especially the second year students feel welcome. I hope to make academic and social opportunities easily heard of, and inviting. We are a fairly small program which allows us to really all get to know one another, and so the concept of community is truly distinctive for ES&L. I hope to get to know all of you, and am excited for what this academic year brings!
